Work Boat Repairs

Commercial Mooring & Buoy-Laying Barge – Major Structural Refurbishment

Williams Engineering carried out an extensive programme of structural steelwork, marine fabrication and refurbishment works on a commercial mooring and buoy-laying barge located on the South Coast.

The project involved the removal and replacement of significant sections of the vessel’s deck and supporting structure, along with the fabrication and installation of new structural components.

Scope of Works:

  • Deck Removal: Removal of the existing overplated deck and main deck plating.
  • Structural Steelwork: Removal of existing stringers and deteriorated supporting steelwork.
  • Full Deck Replacement: Complete fabrication and installation of a new steel deck, including replacement of the supporting substructure beneath.
  • Bow Horn Fabrication: Fabrication and installation of a new bow horn assembly.
  • Crane Pedestal: Fabrication and installation of a new crane pedestal.
  • Wheelhouse Repairs: Structural repairs and overplating of the existing wheelhouse.
  • Shot Blasting: Surface preparation of steelwork through abrasive blasting.
  • Protective Coatings: Application of protective primer coatings to the prepared steel surfaces.

Williams Engineering provided the client with a comprehensive marine engineering package, managing the project from initial steelwork removal through to fabrication, installation, surface preparation and protective priming.
